NEW MUSIC FROM RADICAL FACE & RICKOLUS: a few years ago, i went back home to jacksonville beach, visiting my folks, and late one night, as i often do when home visiting folks, i found myself over at my friend’s house playing catch up. this time, i was in Ben Cooper’s shed, where he records all of his albums with his band Electric President or under his solo moniker of Radical Face. He told me about a project he had been working on with our friend RickoLus, some sort of scifi opera called, “Clone”. I was floored by what i heard…and now you can hear a sneak preview. enjoy the beautiful creepiness of it all.
Rumors are that this homie is back for Bill and Ted 3!!!!!

C’MON PEOPLE! GET IT TOGETHER! learn this guys name. learn his music.

THE ILLESTEST
Been listening to the living shit out of the Ill Mondo IllStrumentals record lately. Not to knock Neal and the other MCs on the original version, but the instrumentals on here are so nice….. This get’s compared to Beastie Boys/Dust Brothers stuff a lot, and uh, sure.. go ahead with that.
*The above video is for part 1 of a megamix style EP they put out last year. Please to be getting that shit too.
Punkcakes: Big Pauper, An Interview
Big Pauper, formerly Panzah Zanzah, is just ridiculously good. A deejay, producer, and former manager of hip hop label Token Recluse- he knows what he’s doing when it comes to rhythms and beats. April 26th birthed the release of Beyond My Means, an album which only proves the…
Big Spider’s Back with “Adder of All”
Though it flew under many radars, Big Spider’s Back’s Memory Man was one of 2011’s most captivating electronic affairs. Its fluid chillwave soundscapes played out like a half-remembered, richly-textured dream. Yair Rubinstein’s latest single, “Adder of All,” takes his ambient machinations down a more uptempo, borderline-techno path. Recorded solely using analog synths and drum machines, the track sounds like the background music for a level from Donkey Kong Country 2.
“Adder of All” is available for free download via Soundcloud, as is the European dance-inspired remix courtesy of Kyle Hargus from USF. Those in Brooklyn can catch Yair’s monthly DJ residency alongside JAMS (from L.A. rap crew Widows) at Kinfolk Studios.
So it’s Monday, which is a drag, but on the plus side, we have something new/cool to share with you; recently our friends and fellow Seattleites in dance-pop outfit SPORTS took a (synth) stab at remixing our track “Radiant and Insubstantial” from last fall’s full-length record, The Spray, out now on Circle into Square. You can view a video for said remix at the above link, edited by SPORTS frontman Whitney Gould and including visuals produced by mad scientist Do Yon Kim, who has been the longtime live visual maestro for SPORTS, Big Spider’s Back, and, less frequently, USF.
